About Smart Manufacturing Laboratory

The Smart Manufacturing Laboratory was a laboratory in the School of Mechanical Engineering with three major goals:

1^st the development of smart technology in manufacturing

2^nd the application of these technologies to the industries

3^rd the education of engineering leaders

It was established on Sept. 2005 by professor Su-Jin Kim for the research and education in the area of CAD/CAM, Virtual Manufacturing, Die & Mold and Precision Machining.

CAD/CAM

Develop the Computer aided manufacturing CAM software by C++.

Virtual Machining

Develop the machining simulation software by C++ and OpenGL.

Die and Mold

Apply software technology for effective mold machining for automotive and home appliance industry.

Precision Machining

Predict machining precision, surface quality, defects and tool wear.
